How Darling protects you
- 18+ only. Everyone gives their date of birth, and accounts belonging to minors are removed.
- Face check. Profile photos must show a real person's face.
- Contact guard. Phone numbers, emails and social handles are blocked in chat until you've talked for 14 days, including numbers written in words, Swahili, emoji or split across messages.
- Private location. Others only see an approximate distance, never where you are.
- Human review. Every report is read by a real person on our team.
Safety tips
- Never send money, M-Pesa, airtime or gifts to someone you met on Darling, however convincing the story. Report anyone who asks.
- Keep chats on Darling until you trust someone. Scammers rush to move you to WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Protect personal details: your home or work address, daily routine, ID number and financial information.
- Watch for red flags: someone who won't video call, whose story keeps changing, who declares love fast, or who pressures you.
- Trust your gut. You never owe anyone a reply, a date or an explanation.
Meeting in person
- Video call first so you know they're who they say they are.
- Meet in a busy public place, and stay there for the first few dates.
- Tell a friend where you're going, who with, and when you'll be back. Share your live location with them.
- Arrange your own transport there and back.
- Stay in control of your drink and your belongings. Leave whenever you want.
- Group dating events are a great low-pressure way to meet. Bring a friend.
Community guidelines
Darling is for adults looking for genuine connection. Accounts that break these rules may be removed without warning:
- Be real. Your photos and details must be you and up to date. No fake profiles, impersonation or catfishing.
- Be respectful. No harassment, threats, hate speech, bullying or unwanted sexual messages. No means no.
- Keep it clean. No nudity or sexual content, no violence or gore, nothing illegal.
- No selling. No scams, money requests, advertising, sex work, escorting or promotion.
- Respect privacy. Don't share anyone's messages, photos or details outside Darling without permission.
- One person, one account, and 18+ only.
Reporting
If someone breaks these rules, makes you uncomfortable or asks you for money, tell us through our safety report form. Include their display name and what happened. A person reviews every report, usually within 24 hours, and we act on it: warnings, content removal, suspension or permanent bans, and reports to the police where the law requires.
Child safety standards
These standards apply to everything on Darling: profiles, photos, videos, live streams, chats, groups and events.
What is prohibited
- Any use of Darling by people under 18.
- Creating, sharing, requesting or linking to any material that sexualises minors.
- Grooming, sextortion, trafficking, or any attempt to contact, meet or exploit a minor.
- Content that depicts, promotes or normalises the abuse of children in any way.
How we prevent it
- Age gate at sign-up: everyone must give a date of birth showing they are 18 or older, and under-18s cannot create an account.
- Profile photos are automatically checked, and content can be reported by any member or visitor.
- Members who appear to be under 18 are removed, and accounts involved in CSAE are permanently banned.
How we respond
- Reports involving minors are treated as our highest priority and reviewed as soon as they arrive.
- We remove CSAM immediately, preserve the evidence as the law requires, and report it to the relevant authorities, including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the equivalent authority where the content was found.
- We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.
- We comply with all applicable child safety laws, including the Kenya Children Act 2022 and Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act 2018.
Report a concern
Anyone, member or not, can report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation on Darling through our safety report form. This is our designated child safety point of contact. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first.
