Terms of Use

The short version: be 18+, be yourself, be kind, and don't use Darling to hurt or scam anyone. The full version is below.

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and Darling. By creating an account or using the Darling app or website, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Darling.

2. Who can use Darling

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must be legally able to enter this agreement, and not be barred from using Darling under any applicable law.
  • You must not have been convicted of a sexual offence or any violent crime, and you must not be required to register as a sex offender anywhere.
  • You may only have one account, and it must represent you, a real person.

3. Your account

Keep your login details safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. Give accurate information, especially your date of birth, and keep your profile honest: recent photos of yourself, and no impersonation.

4. Community rules

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, intimidate or discriminate against anyone.
  • Post nudity, sexually explicit content, violence, hate speech or anything illegal.
  • Share anything that sexualises minors. We have zero tolerance and report it to the authorities.
  • Scam, solicit money or gifts, advertise, promote other services, or do sex work or escort solicitation.
  • Use photos or content that aren't yours, or impersonate anyone.
  • Try to get around our safety features (for example, sharing contact details in code to dodge the contact guard).
  • Use bots, scrapers or automated tools, or interfere with how Darling works.
  • Share another member's private information or content outside Darling without their consent.

Read our community guidelines for more. We may remove content and suspend or ban accounts that break these rules, without a refund.

5. Your content

You own what you post. You give Darling a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute it within the service so Darling can work (for example, showing your photos to potential matches). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members have already received (such as messages) and backups kept for the retention period in our Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for your content and promise you have the right to post it. We may review, filter or remove content to keep Darling safe, including through automated checks.

  • Darling is free to use. Basic and Premium plans unlock extra features for a fixed period (7 or 30 days) at the price shown in the app.
  • Payments are made through M-Pesa. Your plan starts once payment is confirmed. Plans do not renew automatically; you choose whether to buy again.
  • Prices may change, but never for a plan you've already paid for.
  • Payments aren't refundable except where the law requires, or if you were charged and didn't receive your plan. In that case contact us with your M-Pesa receipt and we'll fix it.
  • If Darling is offered through an app store's in-app purchases in future, that store's payment and refund terms will also apply.

7. Safety and other members

We work hard to keep Darling safe, but we don't run criminal background checks and can't guarantee the identity, intentions or behaviour of any member. You're responsible for your interactions with others. Please read our safety tips, meet in public places, and never send money to someone you've met online.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app or on our account deletion page. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or to protect other members. If we close your account for reasons other than a breach, we'll refund any unused paid time.

9. Disclaimers

Darling is provided "as is". We don't promise you'll find a match, that the service will always be available or error-free, or that matches suggested by our AI will be compatible with you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Darling is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for the conduct of any member on or off the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or KES 1,000, whichever is greater.

11. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If there's a problem, please contact us first; most issues can be sorted out quickly. If not, disputes will be handled by the courts of Kenya, unless your local law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

We may update these Terms. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Darling after that means you accept the new Terms.
